1.QUENCHING:

        After the bar leaves the last finishing stand of the mill, it is made to pass through a special cooling system where it rapidly water quenched for a short time depending on size of bar and the rolling speed .

2.FORMATION OF MARTENSITE STRUCTURE:

       The surface of the bar gets quenched to from a hard martensite structure while the inner layer remains comparatively hot.

3. TEMPERING:

    The bars are kept on cooling bed where it gets cooled by the natural air.The heat existing in the inner core layer causes a rise in temperature of the outer layer.This process tempers the external martensite and the temperature of the surface and the core becomes equal. This is called as  ‘Equalizing temperature’.

4.FORMATION OF FERRITE-PEARLITE STRUCTURE:

      On further cooling, the core of steel bar is seen to be a fine grained ferrite-pearlite structure unlike the coarse grains of normally cooled bars.The TEMPCORE controlled cooling process is considered the best in buisness for production of high quality TMT bars.
